Professional Summary

Dr. Ram Prakash Gurram is a consultant surgical gastroenterologist at Harini hospitals, Vijayawada. From a humble background of being born in a farmer’s family at a village he started his journey in medical field after pursing medical seat in his first attempt at Dr Pinnamaneni Siddhartha medical college in the year 2007. After completion of MBBS he secured decent ranks in various post-graduate entrance examination exams. (All India rank 5 in NIMS Hyderabad entrance, All India rank 20 in COMED-K entrance, All India rank 14 in Manipal exam). He decided to join department of General Surgery at Andhra Medical college which has got great reputation since its establishment in 1923. He secured gold medal in MS general surgery for the year of 2017. Later he secured All India Rank 1 in superspeciality entrance exam and joined Mch in surgical gastroenterology at prestigious JIPMER (Jawaharlal institute of post-graduate medical education and research), which is an Institute of national importance along with its likes like AIIMS New Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh. He worked as an assistant professor in department of surgical gastroenterology at NRI medical college, Vijayawada for one year after completion of his studies. He has vast experience in managing critically ill surgical patients and performing complex surgeries. He has special interest in performing various abdominal surgeries using minimally invasive platform, be it a laparoscopic or robotic.

i) Prolonged laparoscopic gastric ischemic conditioning prior to esophagectomy with gastric pull through in patients of esophageal cancer: feasibility and clinical significance

ii) Minimally invasive esophagectomy with a total two‑field lymphadenectomy after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus: A prospective study

3. 17th Annual Conference of the Indian Chapter of International Hepato- Pancreato-Biliary Association 2020: Presented

i. Video presentation on technique of Robot assisted hepaticojejunostomy for post cholecystectomy benign biliary stricture repair – Awarded 1st prize in best video category

ii. Pancreatic Enhancement Ratio and Pancreatic attenuation index as a predictor for Clinically relevant post-operative pancreatic fistula Risk Following Pancreatoduodenectomy – Awarded 1st prize in the best scientific paper category.

4. Presented technique of Interno-external pancreatic ductal stenting in minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy in state conference of ASI Puducherry chapter PONSICON 2020 and was awarded second best surgical video presentation.

5. Attended APASICON 2016 and presented a poster and paper on the management of complex entero-cutaneous fistulas and was awarded second prize in the best paper category.

2. Part of organization team in workshops for Genelyn® embalmed cadavers (GEC) for training the surgical gastroenterologists in liver resection and transplantation procedures held in JIPMER
